Job Description:
Senior Mechanical Design Engineers – Robotics
Image-Guided Medical Technology
Applies education, experience, and technical expertise toward developing world class medical products for image guided surgery. Participates in the design, development and testing with an emphasis on mechanical product development.

Experience in robotic design including belt drives, ball screws, stepper motors and DC servo motors.

Experience with mechanical linkage design and structural design

Expert knowledge of Mechanical technical principles, theories and concepts

Responsible for mechanical designs in an R&D product development environment to develop our robotic guided imaging products.

Responsible for mechanical designs that meet both internal and external customer requirements and are optimized for production, reliability and cost.

Responsible for writing requirements, design implementation, writing test plans, execute tests and write verification reports.
-
Interface with outside vendors as needed to communicate design requirements and databases to ensure the accuracy of parts and subsystem manufacturing by vendors.

Performs troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts related to the development projects. Supports decisions through engineering and analysis data.
· Scope of work includes product conception through full market release and sustaining product support.
· Completes tasks or objectives with minimal direction and no assistance from experienced engineers.
· “Expert” knowledge of principle engineering discipline and “Some” knowledge of other engineering disciplines.
· Expert understanding and able to successfully move a project through design control, quality and regulatory system processes.
· Able to manage own time and work schedule.
· Able to derive, refine and prioritize user and technical requirements at the Project Team level. Capable of optimizing requirements for production, reliability and cost.
· Design skills include an understanding of drafting standards, design progression, GD&T in compliance with ASTM Y14.5, DFSS/DFMA, tolerance analysis and DFMEA methodologies
· “Expert” knowledge of Solidworks/EPDM and modeling practices.
· Leads the evaluation of new technology, new products and new materials.
· Provides information to senior management.
· Computer proficient and skilled with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
· Excellent interpersonal skills; can work individually or in a team environment to complete objectives. Leads by example. Presents a professional image.
· Ability to function well under pressure and expend effort to meet schedules and deadlines.
· Willing to travel as necessary.

NICE TO HAVE

Solid working knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical product development, including knowledge of federal and international regulations, such as FDA QSR, IEC 60601, ISO: 13485, 14971, 62304, and 13485, Medical Device Directive or other regulating agencies is required.
· Experience with medical imaging devices (Diagnostic X-ray, CT, PET, MRI)
